A March of Beauty: The 8th petitePARADE Fashion Show

So many things have been ongoing for Chichi Mary Kids Boutique for the past months, we haven't updated our blog in a while.  I think it's never too late to post our blog post about the last edition of Petite Parade in New York City.  Here you go:

We are back again in New York's East Village for the Eight Edition of petitePARADE -- the premier children's fashion show in NYC. Currently featured are the Fall 2015 Collections of Anais & I, Little Miss Galia, Aria, Biscotti & Kate Mack, Dillonger, Imoga and Bonnie Young.   We were especially looking forward to the collections of Biscotti & Kate Mack as well as Imoga, and we definitely weren't disappointed!

We took Mary with us -- as always. She's been fortunate enough to accompany us to all the children's fashion shows we've gone to since opening Chichi Mary, and she's gotten more and more involved. This time around, she had fun sitting right in front of the runway near the photographers row and taking her own pictures with a point & shoot.  We forgot to bring her Hello Kitty point & shoot, so it's a grown-up camera for now :)

Mary always looks forward to going to New York and this wasn't an exception.  She is excited to wear the clothes from Chichi Mary that are now a big part of her wardrobe.  Today, she is wearing a Siaomimi Tulle Skirt paired with a sweater and accessorized with Sophie Catalou's Hot Pink Necklace.

The show started with Little Miss Galia.

The entire audience found this little model to be super cute -- especially since she definitely looked like she was enjoying herself so much as well :)

Aria -- the next brand to show it's collection -- features a more high fashion lineup with bold colors, playful patterns and silhouettes.

After Aria was Biscotti & Kate Mack's turn.  We love the style of Biscotti & Kate Mack -- a brand that we feature in chichimary.com, and we were excited to see the upcoming looks.

The first one that really caught our eye was a beautiful blue dress with matte sequined flower designs on the bodice, and a tiered tulle skirt.  After the show, we were to able to talk with Biscotti and Kate Mack and they said that this is a "Cinderella inspired" dress.  It is a fun dress and matching it with black boots gave an edgier look at the show.

The second one that we really loved was a soft pink colored dress with a fabulously asymmetrical tulle skirt paired with a faux fur shrug.  This very elegant dress would be a very big hit at any fancy holiday party, especially with the way they styled and accessorized it with similar-colored tights as well as gold-colored ballet flats and a fluffy clutch.  The style's analogous color scheme comes across as an elegant and very clean looking ensemble.

The third dress is a very light-champagne gold colored dress elegantly designed with patterns at the top and flowing tulle drapery all the way around.  The way the fabric moves as the model moved was simply enchanting and magical.  Again, this dress would be such a great hit at a fancy holiday party and we can't wait for Mary to wear it.

This photo captures some of the movement of the dress that captivated us in person.

After Biscotti & Kate Mack followed a slight intermission, with the models giving out blue cotton candy (with some riding a toy Tonka truck). Of course, Mary was very enthusiastic and very quick to grab hers.

Having fun taking photo shoots at the very front of the runway.  Part of the Tonka Truck used by the models to distribute cotton candy is still in the picture  :)

Taking some more photos at the designated photo studio that they set up at the back, where  official photographers were asking kids for their pictures.

After the intermission, it was Imoga's turn. We've featured Imoga at Chichi Mary for two seasons now, and we really love the casual elegance of the brand as well as the comfort of their dresses. Imoga's Fall 2015 collection features dresses with their elegance turned up a notch.  With the use of new materials like tweed, the collection is now veered towards a more classic style.

For this season, we found ourselves drawn to the different accessories that are now included in Imoga's line.

The first special touch that we really loved was the availability of a separate faux fur collar that can be paired with a separate dress. This is a great alternative to wearing a scarf, and really shows how something can be beautiful and functional at the same time.

The second thing we loved were the really fabulous faux fur bags. Mary, in particular, was drawn to these bags.  It's funny how even at a young age girls find it fun to tote around a beautiful bag  :)

The last show was from Bonnie Young focusing on older girls and featuring an edgier look.

Finally, in all previous fashion shows we've attended in New York where the audience is in the same level as the runway, they've been pretty strict with controlling what the front row guests do to ensure that the photos from the photographer's row turn out well and do not include distracting elements. The show organizers will loudly instruct people (and point to those guilty) to move bags underneath seats, to uncross legs, and to keep phones very close to their bodies.  It was amusing in that this time around, they relaxed things a little bit (actually a whole lot), by allowing kids to actually sit on the floors beside the runway.  This includes not just the regular kids, but also a lot of the child models who have finished their part.

The photos below show how even the little ones are curious and fascinated by the beautiful dresses being shown on the runway.

With the fashion show over, my mind starts digesting what I've seen and the trends that will seem to be the big things for Fall later this year. It was another great experience for myself and Mary, and I can't wait for the next one! But for now, it's time to focus my mind in time for another tradeshow tomorrow -- where I decide what beautiful dresses and accessories to feature for Chichi Mary's Fall offering.

Stay tuned!

Best,
Mitshi
