Our Visit To Legoland Windsor

We went to England for business and for our family holiday vacation this summer.  I tried to look for a theme park that Mary would love in England and I found Legoland Windsor.  Windsor is an hour drive from central London.  We booked our transportation online and visited Windsor for a day.  Windsor is also known for Windsor Castle (where the Queen would typically spend her weekends) but I will write more about it in another blog post.

But for most families with small kids, their main purpose in Windsor is to spend the day at Legoland Windsor.  It is our first time to go to a Legoland theme park and I’m definitely impressed with their gardens, rides, and of course, theme park displays that are all Lego themed.   Most rides are aimed for little kids so the rides are not intimidating.  And if you’re a Lego fan, then this theme park should not be missed.

Mary had so much fun admiring the beautiful gardens inside the park.  The unique part of their gardens is that they always incorporate Lego displays.

And because my daughter and I love the girly-girl stuff, we also especially enjoyed an area called Heartlake City.  From pink & purple colored bakeshops and stores, it is also where the Heartlake Harbour Arena is located, where they hold stunt and musical shows.  In the morning, we catched a pirate-themed show that is aimed mostly for boys, and we caught a Girls-BFF-themed show that is aimed for girls -- something for everyone!

Pirates entertaining the crowd.  Everyone loved the pirate antics, especially the multiple jump flips from this four-story lighthouse.

Our whole family enjoyed the Vikings' River Splash ride, where you ride on a circular boat along a narrow, wildly curving chute of fast-flowing water while being drenched by geysers, waterfalls, as well as water cannons that are fired at you by the other theme-park goers while they wait for their turn. We ended up all wet after the ride.  It was awesome to find a  dryer machine at the exit of the ride.

Aside from their interesting Lego rides, I was also really impressed with their beautiful playgrounds.  Although they also had a water park at the Duplo Valley, it was pretty chilly the day we went there so we opted not to go to the water park.  Mary instead just played at the nearby playgrounds.

Another interesting playground  is the Castaway Camp at the Pirate Shores Area. This is the tallest slide we've ever seen in any playground ever -- and kids loved it!

There are different ways to go up to the big slide.  Mary prefers using the rock-climbing wall.  Other kids just use the stairs  :)

My favorite part of the theme park is the Miniland, where different European countries are displayed with their famous landmarks.  Of course, all are built with legos.  It was very entertaining to look at the city miniatures.  For us, it was inspiring to go back to all the European countries we’ve previously visited and at the same time, it was also encouraging to visit the places that we haven't yet been to.

Lastly but definitely not the least, it is a treat to enjoy a meal inside a cafe full of Lego displays and of course, eating "Lego fries" ;)

Our Lego fries!  The pizza was also surprisingly good for theme-park food.
For all Lego fanatics, this is definitely a must-visit.  Our whole family had so much fun and we’re looking forward to another Legoland theme park visit and by the way, I wouldn't mind spending more than a day or two in this theme park ;)

Cheers,
Mitshi
